Four Forest Restoration Initiative



Treatments would include:

  • Thin out smaller pines to allow for more older trees, greater diversity in ages and additional diversity of species such as aspen and Gambel oak
  • Clear trees that are encroaching on meadows to restore historic growth patterns and cut select trees necessary for habitat restoration
  • Conduct prescribed burns that would allow for low intensity natural fires
  • Fence off sensitive riparian features such as seep, springs and channels
  • Restore dry ephemeral channels to reduce erosion
